Former South African Skipper and often termed as Mr. 360 has announced his comeback to the cricket after having played his last cricket game back in 2021 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL). Previously, he had announced his international retirement in 2018 which sent shockwaves to the cricket community as ABD would have immensely contributed with the bat for his national side. However, the legendary cricketer and the ICC Hall of Fame Inductee of 2024, has announced his comeback to the game and he will feature in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) where he'll be seen leading the Game Changers South Africa Champions. Former Proteas legends like Jacques Kallis, Imran Tahir, Herschelle Gibbs, JP Duminy and Dale Steyn featured for the South Africa Champions in the first edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) and the side will now get the services of yet another great of the game, Abraham Benjamin de Villers. The second edition of the tournament will kickstart on 18th July 2025 and will continue till 2nd August and AB de Villiers will mark his presence with the South Africa Champions. The development comes after AB himself announces his return to cricket saying that the bug of cricket bit after a garden game with his kids. Well, time has passed, and my young sons have started playing the game. We’ve been playing more and more often in the garden, and, well, it feels as though some kind of flame has been lit again." He added: “So, I am heading back to the gym and the nets, and I’ll be ready for the WCL in July.” Sharing his exciting on AB's return to cricket, Amandeep Singh, the founder of Game Changers and the co-owner of South Africa Champions stated: "We are honoured to compete in the World Championship of Legends and showcase the incredible talent of our cricketing greats.
