Aaron Jones led the United States of America (USA) cricket team as its captain in five T20 World Cup 2026 matches. The International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament was scheduled to begin in less than two weeks when the officials announced that the 31-year-old player had become unfit to proceed. The ICC accused Jones of five anti-corruption code breaches which occurred two weeks before his scheduled hearing. Most of these charges relate to the 2023–24 season of the Barbados Cricket Association’s Bim10 tournament, in which Jones took part. The ICC and Cricket West Indies (CWI) accused Jones of trying to fix matches and of failing to report corrupt approaches and of not cooperating with a fair investigation and of obstructing an Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigation by allegedly hiding or tampering with vital evidence. The Barbados Cricket Association website states that each player in the 14-day competition received US$62.50 which equals around INR 5,745 for each match they played. The knockout rounds included semifinals and final matches which featured players from six franchises who played 10 league games. Jones earned between US$625 and US$750 which equals approximately INR 57,456 to 68,947 for the entire 2023–24 Bim10 season based on this structure. Jones represents international cricket because he has played for the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket and for the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League. The comparison itself creates uncertainty about which activities people actually performed. USA Cricket announced its T20 World Cup 2026 squad today. Jones did not feature in the lineup due to his suspension, although the team had included him in its plans. The 31-year-old athlete participated in training with the USA team during their stay in Sri Lanka and he achieved 15 runs from 10 balls and 10 runs from 12 balls in two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka 'A'. Now, Jones will watch the tournament from home as the ICC grants him a two-week window to challenge the corruption charges brought against him.
