Yashasvi Jaiswal had the unluckiest dismissal on day 3 at Gabba—a flick shot that hit the Australian huddle during his warm-up gave a wicket to Mitchell Starc on his very second delivery during the match. Jaiswal scored 171 runs in the second innings at Perth, had some banter with Mitchell Starc, and made a record-breaking 201-run partnership with KL Rahul, but failed on all three occasions in both Tests. Starc on his second ball pitched the ball in the middle, which Jaiswal tried to flick but got trapped to Mitchell Marsh at the forward square leg. However, he had tried something very similar during the warm-up when the Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir threw a ball, targetting Jaiswal's leg. While playing it, Jaiswal flicked it that smacked the Cricket Australia cameraperson. While doing commentary, Harsha Bhogle was heard saying, “Can you imagine the catch would be there? The man just in front of the square, acres of space on the side, and Jaiswal hits it straight to the fielder.” However, Vaughan had an analysis behind Jaiswal's departure. He said, Jaiswal practiced the perfect whip shot in the nets, but match pressure led to a reckless aerial flick. "Five minutes before Jaiswal got out, this is the shot he practiced that whip through mid-wicket, wonderful shot and good balance. And then you go into the match and it’s the same shot but he goes aerial, just flicks it. It was the pressure of the game, in practice it’s perfect.”
