Prithvi Shaw has recently been a centre of controversies, and his fitness issues have been one of the major causes behind his downfall. This time, he has been dropped from the Mumbai squad for the Vijay Hazare trophy, owing to indiscipline. An official from the Mumbai Cricket Association anonymously reported that Shaw has been skipping practices but attending all-night parties during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, returning hotel at 6 am. Not only that, Shaw's fitness is a big concern as well. Mumbai reportedly fielded 10 players during the SMAT, being forced to hide Shaw somewhere. He even struggled to pick up nearby balls, even failing to reach the line of the ball while batting. The official anonymously said, "In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it." Following his exclusion for the team, Shaw had added a story on his Instagram account, which said, "Tell me God, what more do I have to see, if 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people believe me in still, cause I will come back for sure. He said, "I'll tell you one thing. No one is Shaw's enemy. He is his own enemy." Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer hinted Shaw's indiscipline at SMAT Shreyas Iyer, the winning captain of Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, clearly said that none can "babysit" Shaw. After winning the tournament, Iyer acknowledged Shaw's potential but also said that Shaw needs to word on himself. He said "We can't babysit anyone, right? He has played so much of cricket. Everyone has given him inputs. At the end of the day, it's his job to figure out things for himself. And he has also done it in the past. It's not that he hasn't." Previously, Mumbai dropped Shaw from the Ranji Trophy squad. Even though there was no official clarification, it was his indiscipline and fitness that have been a major issue.
