Afghanistan star all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has informed his desire to retire from ODI cricket after the 2025 Champions Trophy. Naseeb Khan, the chief of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, has passed the information to Cricbuzz, confirming his statement. To Cricbuzz, Khan stated, "Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he informed the board about his desire," Naseeb told Cricbuzz. "He told me few months back that he wants to end his ODI career after the Champions Trophy and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, what I understand is that, he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now." He has represented the country in 165 ODI matches, scoring 3549 runs, averaging 27.30, and registering two hundreds. The first ton (116) came in 2015 against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo and the second (136) against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in February 2024. Since his debut in 2009 against Scotland, he has bagged 171 wickets. Presently, he is playing the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, where he scored a match-winning 82 runs in the opening game, giving the team a competitive total to defend. Mohammad Nabi had already announced his retirement from the Tests in 2019.
