India won the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at Perth by a huge 295-run margin and has retained the first spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Rankings. Earlier, it was Australia that topped the list, but has dropped down to the second spot after the loss. After the 0-3 whitewash in the home series against New Zealand, India dropped down to second. But with this win, India has bettered their Point Percentage (PCT) from 58.33% to 61.11%. India have also earned 12 valuable points, thus their total point has increased to 110. However, India still has to win 3 of the remaining 4 Tests in the series for a smooth qualification to the WTC finals. So far, India has played 15 Tests in the present 2023-25 World Test Championship Cycle. India has won 9 of those and lost 5, with one draw in it.
