India is suffering a dip in their performances as a team since their home Test series against New Zealand till the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. This has sparked confusions Basit Ali commented that Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are not on the same page. India sealed a massive win of 295 runs at Perth under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah but faced 10 wickets in the second test at Adelaide under Rohit Sharma's leadership. Not only that, the Gabba test is giving hints of a similar defeat unless God saves the team, making it a draw. In his You Tube channel, Pakistani former cricketer Basit Ali said, "Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page, be it the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, which was a weak series; or the New Zealand series after that. Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page, be it the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, which was a weak series; or the New Zealand series after that. In the second and third (Tests), they (Rohit and Gambhir) are not on the same page, like Rahul Dravid was. He and Rohit were not on the same page." To complement that, India should either have Washington Sundar or Ravichandran Ashwin in place of Ravindra Jadeja. Funny enough, India tried all three but probably did not manage to get the results they wanted. Regarding this Basit said, "I can explain it very easily. In all three Tests matches, a different spinner played. In two Test matches, they batted after winning the toss, but here they chose to bowl. There are three left-handers in the Australian batting....So why not (Washington) Sundar and why not (Ravichandran) Ashwin? Anybody who understands cricket will definitely talk about it." No only Basit criticized India’s decision to bowl first at the Gabba, citing over-reliance on Jasprit Bumrah. He argued that the lack of a left-arm pacer in the squad is a significant weakness, citing references of Pakistan's left-arm pacers like Shaheen Afridi and Mir Hamza. Basit also noted that other bowlers underperformed, making it seem like "Bumrah vs Australia." He also questioned the strategies of Rohit Sharma, bowling coach Morne Morkel, and head coach Gautam Gambhir in addressing these issues, highlighting India's struggles in countering Head effectively.
