West Indies experienced a dismal batting collapse at the hands of Australia on Monday (Tuesday IST) during the second innings of the third Test match. The match was played at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. West Indies managed to score just 27 runs in 14.3 overs before losing all their 10 wickets. Justin Greaves, playing at number 7, was the team's top scorer. He scored 11 runs off 24 balls with two fours. Two other players, Mikyle Louis and Alzarri Joseph, scored four runs each. Surprisingly, seven West Indies batters were dismissed for a duck in this innings. This dismal display saw West Indies become the first team in the 148-year history of Test cricket to have seven batters of a team fall for a duck in a single innings. Before this, in nine different Test innings, at least six batters had lost their wicket without scoring any runs. But never had seven players been dismissed for a duck in one innings until now. Taking part in his 100th Test match, he scalped six wickets for only 9 runs in 7.3 overs. Scott Boland also performed well, scalping two wickets in the innings. Starc was on fire, picking up five wickets within 15 balls. Boland also contributed to the woes of West Indies by bagging three wickets in three deliveries. This helped him achieve a hat-trick and become the 10th Australian bowler to achieve the feat in Test cricket. He also became the only bowler to claim a hat-trick in a day/night Test.
