The final match of the ICC Champions Trophy between India and New Zealand in Dubai on March 9, found underworld links as a bulk of money have been bet on the match. As per a report by Dainik Jagran, bets worth up to ₹5000 crore have been placed on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. The report suggests that the betting activities have been carried out through an international underworld network. It also speculates on the possible involvement of Dawood Ibrahim's D Company in these operations. The report says as quoted, “There is a possibility of Dawood Ibrahim's D Company being involved in this.” The reports further said, the first arrests in the case involved two bookies, Parveen Kochhar and Sanjay Kumar, who were caught in the act of betting on the India-Australia semi-final. Authorities also confiscated laptops and mobile phones from them. Additionally, three more individuals—Manish Sahni, Yogesh Kukreja, and Suraj—were arrested in Delhi. These suspects were linked to a Dubai-based bookie network. During this operation, police reportedly seized ₹22 lakh in cash.
