The five-time IPL champion, Mumbai Indians, has retained five Indian players from its 2024 squad ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah signed a contract extension with MI for Rs 18 crore. Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma were also retained for Rs 16.35 crore, Rs 16.35 crore, Rs 16.30 crore, and Rs 8 crore, respectively. After the same, MI announced that Hardik Pandya will continue as their captain for 2025 season. From 30 matches, despite scoring 901 runs with LSG, he isn't retained by them and MI can expect to welcome him back. Trent Boult Boult was traded to MI from Delhi Capitals before IPL 2020. He played under Rohit Sharma for two years. Then, he was part of Rajasthan Royals since 2018. In his IPL career, Jos Buttler has scored 3055 runs in 83 games. Despite Jos Buttler being a key player of the past two years for Rajasthan Royals, he has not been retained and he might be picked up by Mumbai Indians who released Ishan Kishan who used to play for MI as a wicketkeeper and opening batter. Yuzvendra Chahal Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the most successful bowler in IPL history, having picked up 205 wickets in 160 matches. After his first stint with MI in 2013, he became a famous name with his spell with RCB and RR. Although RR has impressive wicket counts over the last three seasons, they have not retained him. As MI has been lacking a solid spinner of late, it might look to bring Chahal on board.
