The 2026 IPL mini auction is nearing as the players have already registered their names for the procedure. Notably, all 10 franchises are asked to submit their preferred players by December 5, before the auction starts on December 16, in Abu Dhabi. According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, a total of 1355 players have registered their names in the auction pool. Among them, 45 players, who were mostly released by their franchises before the 2026 Mini IPL action, have registered their names in the INR 2 crore list. Notably, each team can have a maximum of 25 players in their squad. After all teams submitted their retained/released player lists, the total number of empty slots across all 10 teams is 77. Out of those 77 empty slots, 31 can be filled by overseas players (non-Indian players). The remaining 46 must be filled by Indian players. Cameron Green registers after missing 2025 Mega Auction The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green had suffered from an back injury, due to which he did not register himself for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, in the 2026 IPL Mini Auction, Cameron Green has registered his name in the topmost tier of INR 2 crore. Well, teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, who are in search of a good all-rounder, might show interest in him, given the massive bank to their name. Josh Inglis' surprise u-turn The Punjab Kings' head coach, Ricky Ponting, had earlier confirmed that Josh Inglis won't be available for the 2026 IPL due to which the franchise had released him. Bishnoi, on the other hand, was retained by Lucknow Super Giants for 2 crores. However, his four years stint with the franchise ended as they released him before the Mini Auction.
