Yuzvendra Chahal turned the game on its head in a single over that began with the wicket of MS Dhoni and ended with the first hat-trick of IPL 2025. It all started with Dhoni attempting a big shot off a legbreak, only to mistime it straight to long-off where Wadhera completed the catch. The crowd at Chepauk fell silent as their hero walked back after a brief but fiery cameo. Two balls later, Deepak Hooda tried to go over point but only managed a thick edge, safely pouched by Priyansh Arya. Chahal was in rhythm now and sensed something big. On the very next delivery, he bowled Anshul Kamboj with a beautifully tossed-up delivery that straightened just enough to beat the bat and crash into the stumps. Golden duck. But Chahal wasn’t done. The final ball of the over saw Noor Ahmad sky one high to long-on, where Jansen made no mistake. With that, Chahal sealed a memorable hat-trick — his signature celebration following swiftly. Coming in at a critical stage, Curran held the innings together after early blows as Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre departed cheaply. He struck 9 boundaries and 4 sixes in a well-paced innings. Dewald Brevis chipped in with 32, while Ravindra Jadeja added a quick 17. But CSK's momentum was halted in dramatic fashion during the 18th over by Yuzvendra Chahal. After removing MS Dhoni, Chahal scripted the first hat-trick of the season, dismissing Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in consecutive deliveries. His 4/32 changed the course of the innings completely, as CSK stumbled from 184/5 to 186/9. Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh also contributed with two wickets each. Despite Curran’s heroics, CSK’s late collapse prevented them from reaching a more imposing total.
