Jasprit Bumrah will be returning to India's T20I team after over 14 months, making a comeback at the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE from September 9. The ace pacer had played his last T20I in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Bridgetown when he was a key performer in India's victory against South Africa. Since that time, India have played 20 T20Is, but Bumrah has been rested in order to regulate his workload, prioritize Test cricket, and also to recuperate from injury. Now, as the 2026 T20 World Cup approaches, the 31-year-old pacer is set to spearhead India's bowling again. Milestones Jasprit Bumrah Could Create at Asia Cup 2025 Second Indian to 100 T20I Wickets Bumrah currently has 89 wickets in 70 T20Is with a remarkable average of 17.7 and a stunning economy rate of 6.3. No Indian bowler has yet crossed the 100-wicket mark in T20Is. Arshdeep Singh, one wicket away, is most likely to be the first, but Bumrah stands a good chance to be the second Indian bowler to reach the milestone. Hardik Pandya, with 94 wickets from 114 games, is also in the hunt, but Bumrah's nature as a death-over bowler and his consistency in delivering a decent spell time and again make him stand out. If India makes it to the Asia Cup final, Bumrah can play seven games, providing him with sufficient opportunities to break this record. Only Yuzvendra Chahal (380), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (327), Piyush Chawla (319), and Ravichandran Ashwin (317) from Indian bowlers are ahead. With seven wickets away from surpassing Ashwin and Chawla, Bumrah can reach third position in India's all-time T20 wicket-takers list during the Asia Cup. First Pacer to 100 T20I Wickets at an Economy Under 7 Bumrah's mastery in T20 cricket makes him stand out. Even though he bowls almost 40% of his overs in the death, he has an economy of only 6.3. If he gets to 100 wickets in the tournament, he will be the first fast bowler in history to do it with an economy less than 7. However, if he manages to bowl three maidens, he will surpass Shem Ngoche of Kenya who currently sits at second with 14 maidens. If the ace pacer manages seven maidens, he will reach the summit, surpassing Uganda's Frank Nsubuga, who has 18 maidens to his name in this format of the game in international cricket. Such an achievement would highlight Bumrah's amazing consistency and contribution in one of cricket's toughest formats. With his comeback, India not will only get back their ace but also stand an opportunity to see history being made.
