England all-rounder Liam Livingstone played a stunning game while leading Birmingham Phoenix against Oval Invincibles in Match 10 of The Hundred Men's Competition 2025. The match was played on Tuesday, August 12, at Edgbaston in Birmingham as the Phoenix pursued a massive score in style. Batting first, Invincibles scored 180/8 in their 100-ball innings, with Donovan Ferreira hammering 63 from 29 balls, with four fours and six sixes. In response for Phoenix, Trent Boult, Adam Milne, and Benny Howell took two wickets apiece, and Livingstone also contributed one wicket in his limited five-ball spell. During the pursuit, Will Smeed got the ball rolling with a fast 51 from 29 balls. But skipper Livingstone was the showstopper. He hit his half-century in 22 balls and remained not out on 69 of 27 balls, smashing seven fours and five sixes to take his team to a four-wicket victory with two balls remaining. Though Livingstone was the star of The Hundred, his IPL 2025 campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was disappointing though the team won the trophy. He scored only 112 runs in eight innings at a batting average of 16.00 and strike rate of 133.33 with only one fifty. He also picked two wickets from five bowling innings. With his established all-rounder talent, Livingstone is an asset T20 player and, if RCB choose to release him prior to IPL 2026, a number of teams might be interested. Also Read | Cricket Pitch Types Explained Teams That Should Target Liam Livingstone in IPL 2026 Delhi Capitals (DC) With Axar Patel as captain, Delhi Capitals had a divided IPL 2025. They began well, claiming five out of their initial six matches, but only secured two victories in their final eight, ending fifth on 15 points. They did not have sustained firepower in their middle order. Harry Brook, acquired for ₹6.25 crore, backed out pre-season to attend to England commitments. KL Rahul was exceptional with 539 runs at 53.90 and a strike rate of 149.72, and Tristan Stubbs was impressive with 300 runs at 50.00 (SR 150.75). Karun Nair (198 runs at SR 172.17), Ashutosh Sharma (204 runs at SR 160.62), and Abishek Porel (301 runs at SR 146.82) were unable to perform consistently. Livingstone's bold batting, part-time spin, and quick fielding might give DC the all-round strength they were missing in 2025. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had their worst season ever in 2025, finishing bottom. Injuries and dip in form from the big guns were major factors. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was out for most of the season, while Rahul Tripathi (55 runs at SR 96.49) and Deepak Hooda (31 runs at SR 75.60) struggled. Sam Curran also had a struggling season, making 114 runs off five innings and picking only one wicket at an average of 133.00 with an economy rate of 11.08. Even stalwarts like Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube struggled at times. Livingstone's IPL figures, 1,051 runs at 26.27 with a strike rate of 158.76 and seven fifties, present him as a viable candidate for CSK's middle order. Being equally comfortable batting in various positions makes him an added asset. But the season ended on a low note as they finished at ninth position with eight points. Their finishing department didn't click. Hetmyer made 239 runs in 13 innings at a average of 21.72, while Shubham Dubey (106 runs at SR 160.60) and Wanindu Hasaranga (nine runs in five innings) didn't have a material impact. The absence of a consistent all-round finisher was evident. Livingstone, who has previously played for RR, could fill that gap perfectly. His ability to hit big in the death overs while offering spin makes him a strong candidate if RR look to rebuild for IPL 2026.
