The bid match is here at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium, where a few nights back, India sealed a historic win against Australia to reach the finals. Notably, it had been raining heavily there, with the pitch being covered for a long period of time. It was the puddles and wet outfield thereafter that took some time for the match to resume. Well, after waiting for long hours, the teams finally get to spin the coin and it landed in favor of South Africa. The guests decided to field first. Justifying the toss decision, South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt mentioned that the venue offers good conditions for chasing and expressed hope that the surface would be slightly sticky early on, allowing their new-ball bowlers to settle into rhythm quickly. She further confirmed that South Africa will go with an unchanged lineup. Calling it a big and exciting game, Wolvaardt said the team is eager to perform and that playing in front of such a lively crowd makes the occasion even more special. She added that despite recent performances, they need to begin afresh but remain confident about their form and approach. Speaking about the Indian side, the captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, said that she would have gone with Laura's decision, however won't mind batting first because it will give them the freedom. Harmanpreet Kaur observed that the pitch appears slightly sticky due to the recent rain. She expects the surface to ease out after the first five or six overs, as the dampness fades and the ball becomes wetter, reducing any early assistance for the bowlers. Notably, Sneh Rana will still have to sit out as India walks in with an unchanged squad. Well, despite heavy rains and a delay of almost 2 hours, there is no loss of overs.
