England is generally known for its chilly climate, even during the summer. The climate generally ranges from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. But 2025 has seen things differently. The cities of England are currently experiencing heatwaves and increasing temperatures, and it has also impacted the India vs England Test series. Players have been struggling with the heat, which has impacted their performance. On Day 2 of the ongoing Test at Edgbaston, the temperature in Birmingham went up to almost 25 degrees Celsius which is higher than usual. It was so hot that Indian players asked for drinks break just 15 minutes after the Day 2 play started at 3:30 PM IST. This did not sit well with some of the England players, who attempted to taunt the Indian side. They took their jibes at all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was playing nicely. An English player spoke up, saying, "15 minutes in the day and you want drinks, lads," attempting to distract Jadeja. However, this did not affect Jadeja's concentration as the left-hander went on to score 89 runs. On Day 1, England skipper Ben Stokes had exchanged heated words with young Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal was playing well and was infuriating the England bowlers with his confident cricket. Ben Stokes uttered something to annoy Jaiswal, but the young one didn't keep quiet. He replied, saying, "You don't want to hear it from me, come on!" That response went viral, indicating how audacious Jaiswal was. He didn't give the words any importance and maintained his concentration. Now on Day 2, Jadeja performed well, despite the sledging attempts by English players. The game is getting intense in ways other than temperature as well, both literally and metaphorically. India is currently having an upper hand in this game as they have posted 419-6 at the end of Day 2's 1st session.
