Dhruv Jurel, the man who has been filling the gaps in the Indian team, keeping wickets for the last few months in place of injured Rishabh Pant, finally got his maiden Test century in style. Dhruv's innings was defined by grit, and somehow guided by Ravindra Jadeja from the other end. He faced 190 balls and scored 103 runs as he completed his century hitting 12 boundaries and 2 sixes. Dhruv saluting the Indian Army has now been a common sight, given him being an Army kid. However today, the "kid" has unlocked a new "gun-salute" celebration dedicating the Indian Army. Ravindra Jadeja became the aggressor but the partnership slowed down after the West Indies took the new ball. The last few minutes, in his 90, Dhruv was breathing heavily, desperate to take doubles. Jadeja, who himself had reached his fifty by then, restrained Dhruv from risking it. Playing in place of the injured Rishabh Pant, Jurel reached the milestone in 190 balls, becoming only the third Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test hundred against the West Indies at home. He now joins legends MS Dhoni, who scored 144 in Kolkata in 2011, and Farokh Engineer, who hit 109 in Chennai in 1967. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer also became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper overall to register a Test century and the fifth to achieve this feat against the Caribbean side, after Vijay Manjrekar, Engineer, Ajay Ratra, and Wriddhiman Saha. However, Dhruv's innings ended at 125 run after getting a slight outside edge off Khary Pierre.
