Ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2025, which is to be held next month, IPL teams have retained 12 uncapped Indian players. Eight out of ten teams exercised the rule of retaining the uncapped players each. Four franchises namely Kolkata Knight Riders, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Punjab Kings have retained two uncapped players each. Interestingly, two former India international players were retained as uncapped players. Both players will come into force as part of a new IPL rule that has come into place for 2025. The rule says that if a player hasn't played for India in the last five years, he would be considered uncapped. 12 Uncapped Players Retained Ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction MS Dhoni (CSK) The most capped IPL player remained in Chennai Super Kings after the franchise retained the legend of the game in INR 4 crore. Dhoni was retained as uncapped player as per new rule that has been implemented in this year's retention. Harshit Rana (KKR) IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders retained uncapped pacer Harshit Rana for Rs INR 4 crore. Although, he was called up for India in all three formats, but Rana is yet to make his debut for India. In Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rana scalped 19 wickets while playing for KKR. He has scored 125 runs at a strike rate of 201.61 in 14 matches of IPL 2024 and showed fine fielding skills. He can also contribute with the ball if given the opportunity. Yash Dayal (RCB) Indian fast bowler Yash Dayal has been retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru at a price of INR 5 crore. In the last season, Dayal took 15 wickets in 14 matches. Mohsin Khan (LSG) Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) retained pacer Mohsin Khan for INR 4 crore. Over three seasons with Lucknow based franchise, Mohsin took 27 wickets in 24 matches. Ayush Badoni (LSG) LSG also retained Ayush Badoni for Rs INR crore. The Delhi-based cricketer has 634 runs and has picked up two wickets across 42 games in Indian Premier League (IPL). Hence, according to the new rule, he has been retained as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. Sharma joined RR in 2023 and performed well. Abhishek Porel (DC) Delhi Capitals retained Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel for Rs INR crore. The 22-year-old has scored 360 runs across 18 games for DC. Rahul Tewatia (GT) The Gujarat Titans retained Rahul Tewatia for Rs INR 4 crore. Tewatia is considered as an uncapped player because he never played for India. He has played some match winning innings in his IPL career which forced the franchise to retain the player. In seven games played by him in the last season, he had scored 127 runs. Shashank Singh (PBKS) Punjab Kings paid a retention price of Rs 5.5 crore for Shashank Singh who scored 354 runs for them in IPL 2024, though he would have been retained at a cost of INR 4 crore. Prabhsimran Singh (PBKS) PBKS retained wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh for Rs INR crore. The Punjab player has scored 756 runs across 34 IPL games, all for Punjab Kings.
