Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has been on the ground of flood-soaked Punjab taking aid from his MPLAD funds. Singh who represents the Aam Admi Party in the Rajya, has organized boats and and ambulances for the victims of the floods. According to sources, Singh managed 11 steamer boats, three from his own pocket and 8 sanctioned from the MPLAD fund. He even bought three ambulances with his money so that the patients in serious condition can be transferred to the nearby hospital. The source revealed that each boat cost around Rs 4.5 to Rs 5.5 lakh. The source anonymously said, "Harbhajan donated 11 steamer boats in all. Eight from his MPLAD fund and three more from his own pocket. Each boat cost around Rs 4.5 to Rs 5.5 lakh. He has also bought three ambulances for smooth transfer of serious patients to nearby hospitals." Not only that, Harbhajan Singh has been working on his sources to collect funds. He reportedly has reached his friends and cricketers and several organizations. The source revealed that one of the sporting organizations donated INR 30 lakh. INR 12 lakh came from a friend, while another friend donated INR 6 lakh. Harbhajan Singh is currently working to distribute INR 50 lakh to the needy families and is buying essentials like food and medicine for them. He is currently monitoring the conditions and promised to provide all kinds of aids necessary. Akshay Kumar contributed ₹5 crore, calling it an act of “sewa.” Gippy Grewal supplied fodder for livestock, and Karan Aujla arranged motorboats for rescue. Punjabi singers abroad pledged concert earnings, while NRIs in Canada and Australia raised crores, highlighting global unity for Punjab’s rehabilitation.
