Jemimah Rodrigues has opened up about Shafali Verma’s inspiring comeback and is hopeful that the Indian opener will deliver a strong performance in the WPL final. Speaking ahead of Delhi Capitals' much-anticipated clash against Mumbai Indians, Rodrigues assured that the team is well-prepared for their third consecutive WPL final. Despite topping the table in the previous two seasons, Delhi Capitals have yet to claim the trophy. However, Rodrigues believes this could be the year they finally secure the championship. "Out of all the three seasons, I'm most proud of this year for this team because it wasn't easy. But we found a way to pick ourselves up and still come out on top and be consistent while still being the DC team everyone knows about," she said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. However, she made a statement in domestic cricket and has continued her stellar form in the WPL. With 300 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of nearly 157.9, she is currently Delhi Capitals' highest run-scorer and the only Indian batter to cross the 300-run mark this season. Jemimah Rodrigues, speaking about her Delhi teammate, praised her fighting spirit, calling her an inspiration. "Shafali is such an inspiration. Not because she has come back but the way she has come back. The kind of strike rate, the kind of impact she's been having for that team, I think it just shows her character," she said. She also expressed confidence that Shafali would soon return to the Indian team. "A lot of times when things are going well, it's easy to keep doing well and keep doing what you're doing. But to be dropped and to come back the way she did, hats off to her. I can't wait to see her, and I'm sure she'll be back soon to be in the [Indian] team too," Rodrigues added. After two consecutive final defeats, the Delhi Capitals will be eager to clinch their first-ever WPL title. They will face defending champions Mumbai Indians on March 15 in a repeat of the 2023 WPL final showdown.
