Cricket Australia has announced a 13-member squad for the women's team for the three-match ODI series against India, with Tahila McGrath leading the team in place of the regular skipper Alyssa Healy. Healy, who was participating in the Women's Big Bash League, has been ruled out due to a knee injury. Georgia Voll, from Queensland and Sydney Thunder, got her maiden call in the team, hoping to fill Healy's space. Voll had a great domestic session and is one of the top 3 batters with the highest runs in the BBL and Women's National Cricket League. Australia to play against New Zealand The ODI series against India will start on December 5 and will continue till 11, hosted in Melbourne and Perth. Australia will then play three ODIs against New Zealand from 19-23 December in Wellington. Infact, all six ODIs will be a part of the ICC Women's Championship. Speaking about the squad, Cricket Australia's Head of Performance (Women's Cricket) and National Selector, Shawn Flegler, said in a press conference, "We've chosen an experienced squad for these two upcoming tours with next year's Ashes series and ICC Women's World Cup very much very much the focus. Georgia Voll has had a strong start to the summer and has shown her potential over several years." Fledger also informed that the 21-year-old Voll will partner with Phoebe Litchfield at the top order, gaining valuable international experience against a strong India side. Alyssa Healy's absence from the India series was decided with the Ashes in mind, and her availability for the New Zealand series will be assessed in the coming weeks. Tahlia McGrath impressed as captain during the World Cup and will be supported by Ash Gardner, a strong leader on and off the field. With India’s threat and New Zealand's confidence post-World Cup, both series promise entertaining cricket.
